Course Description:

This course will teach you how to develop your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing for everyday use of English. You will practice and improve your English skills by interacting with your teacher and classmates.


There are regular assessments in speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar so you know how you are progressing.


This course aims to improve English language in a range of content areas. These include:

– English for social interaction
– English for employment
– English for study, research and technology


The program also prepares students for more specialized programs such as: English for Academic Study


Entry Requirements:

Applicant must be 18 years of age or above. There are no other entry requirements as your English will be tested on arrival and you will be placed in the appropriate level.


The levels are Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Upper Intermediate.

English For Academic Study

4 – 24 weeks


Each level consists of three 4-week modules; students may enrol for as many of these modules as they require up to a maximum of 24 weeks.


Course Description:

The English for Academic Study course is designed for International students who are preparing to enter Bachelor and Post-graduate Degree programs at Universities in Australia. Bachelor Degree programs usually require a minimum English Language level of IELTS Band 5.5 or an equivalent performance level in another international English test. Masters Degree programs normally require a minimum of IELTS Band 6.0 or 6.5 (or equivalent).


The course aims to develop:

– General English language skills
– Subject-specific vocabulary across a range of disciplines
– Research and Study Skills to an advanced level, so that the learner can confidently participate in the Australian ‘academic culture’ and successfully negotiate all aspects of research and enquiry-based learning

Entry Requirements:

Applicant must be 18 years of age or above. Evidence of an Intermediate level of English or higher: for example, having reached Intermediate level in General English.

Pearson’s Test of English (PTE)


The PTE Academic Test has been endorsed by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection for all visa categories* and provides the opportunity to gain additional points towards permanent residency (PR). QIBA has developed a short English program, in collaboration with Pearson Australia.


This program is aimed at Professionals seeking to improve their English and achieve high scores on their PTE Academic test.

*Please note this course is a part time course and is not available to student visa holders as their main course

The QIBA PTEA Professional Program is designed to assist students improve their English skills. The program will develop language awareness as well as attain advanced reading, writing, listening and communication skills. The level of English you will achieve in this program will assist you to accomplish the desired results in the   PTE Academic Test.
