Helmer Lich

Migrating from the Netherlands as a young teacher, Helmer pioneered Migrant Education in the Queensland Department of Education and also became the 2nd in charge of the Child Migrant Education Program in Queensland. Helmer also pioneered English in the Workplace and ESL Teacher Training Programs. After joining QIBA in 1995, Helmer built a strong reputation through international projects (in Japan, Malaysia, New Caledonia and China) and by developing innovating courses such as English for Aviation and MBA-Foundation. He also lectured at Griffith University in Applied Linguistics as a sessional lecturer for 17 years. Helmer also made significant contribution in developing the original curriculum for Accounting PY (formerly SMIPA) and set up a successful off-shore QIBA University preparation program at Tianjin University of Science and Technology, now in its 15th Year. Outside of work, Helmer likes reading Dutch, French and German literature and watching foreign movies. He practices Tai Chi and meditation and has a passion for sailing, cooking exotic food and travelling.

Jodie Heylen

Jodie joined QIBA in 2013. Jodie grew up wanting to be a teacher but became an accountant and now figures she has the best of both worlds. When she is not working, you will likely find her reading, playing board games or pretending to be on par with Ko Jun-Young (World No. 1 ladies golfer).

Louise Hodder

Louise grew up in Sydney and has also resided in Darwin NT and on Magnetic Island North Queensland. Louise has two children and 5 grandchildren. She relishes every minute with them. Louise has been with QIBA since 2014. Her role as PY Manager brings so many stimulating, challenging and rewarding moments – it’s so wonderful seeing young International graduates, through the guidance of QIBA’s fantastic PY Facilitators, transform into young professionals ready and raring to tackle the Australian ICT Industry. When Louise is not working she loves walking her dog along the beach, collecting shells, rocks and interesting objects.

Sally Mooney

Sally has always lived in South East Queensland. She has a background in Administration, Student Welfare, Compliance along with Floristry and Merchandising. Sally joined QIBA in 2015 and really enjoys working with a culturally diverse team in a challenging and varying role at QIBA. In her spare time she enjoys listening to music, photography, spending time with family and friends, road trips and camping in the Australian Outback or on the beach.

Trisha Dahal

Trisha grew up in Kathmandu, Nepal. Before joining QIBA, she completed a Master Degree in Accounting. Trisha enjoys her role at QIBA because she believes that it is great to be a part of a team that is always willing to help and seek advise from each other. Whenever she is not working, Trisha likes watching movies and TV series.

Sarthak Joshi

Born and brought up in Nepal, Sarthak came to Australia in 2016 and joined the QIBA team in 2018. Before joining QIBA, Sarthak worked as a chef in an Italian restaurant while completing a Bachelor of IT from CSU. He finds it fascinating to be a part of the QIBA team that is constantly turning ideas into reality. While he is not working, he enjoys cooking, playing chess, reading books and watching movies.

Giedre Carneckyte

Giedre moved to Australia from Lithuania 3 years ago and joined the QIBA team in 2019. She has extensive background in administration and web design. At QIBA, Giedre loves to be a part of a diverse, supportive and hardworking team. In her spare time, she enjoys various outdoor activities and watching documentaries about space.

Sara Dell’Aia

Sara grew up in Italy. Before coming to Australia in 2015. She lived for a few years in Spain and England. Sara speaks Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and English. Prior to moving into the education industry Sara worked in Fashion for many years. She enjoys working in a multicultural environment at QIBA. Sara loves travelling and all kind of outdoor activities and as a good Italian, she really enjoys cooking.

Noor Nazar

Born and brought up in Bangladesh, Noor came to Australia in 2009 and joined the QIBA team in 2020. Before switching her career to the education industry, she worked as a Software Test Engineer for 10 years. In her spare time, Noor likes to spend time with her family and enjoys listening to music. She also has a passion for cooking.

Bina Mahadeb

Born and brought up in Mauritius, Bina moved to Australia in 2015. Bina worked as a Study Progress Officer for a vocational education provider for 2 years before joining QIBA in 2020. She is glad to be part of the QIBA team whose members are always helping each other perform well in their job. Bina is fluent verbally and written in three languages. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities and reading.

Austin Huang

Austin grew up in Taiwan, and came to Australia in 2012 on a working holiday visa. In 2018, Austin completed a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and was married in Brisbane. He worked as an education and migration counsellor for nearly 2 years before joining QIBA in 2020. What he loves about his job is the collaborative environment. When he’s not working, he enjoys playing video games, reading, exercising, cooking and watching movies or TV series.

With an experience of working in Sales and Marketing department for a few years, Evelyn came to Australia 2 years ago. At QIBA, she loves working with a team that is friendly and professional. Fredro grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia and received higher education degrees in California and Illinois, United States of America. Fredro has taught for at least twenty-five different institutions (in Higher Education sector and in VET sector) in three different countries (Australia, USA, Indonesia). His professional experience spans from information technology to business management. As an IT professional, Fredro has been involved in various projects, such as software, mobile application and website projects based in Australia, USA and Indonesia. His research interests are in machine learning, pattern recognition and computer vision. Fredro joined QIBA in July 2019, and has always been very passionate about learning environments since he started teaching in 1995. By joining QIBA, Fredro continues his passion interacting with learners, sharing his knowledge and experience and making changes in students’ life. When he is not working, he enjoys reading, generating new ideas and making them a reality, spending time with family and friends, sporting activities and travelling.

Paviter Noori

Paviter was born in India. In 2005 this lonely cop migrated to New Zealand. Paviter set up all times Category 1 Institution “Abacus Institute of Studies”. He delights in working with communities, international students while finding a way to add meaningful contributions to society. In his spare time, Paviter enjoys connecting with friends, shooting videos on his drone, capturing nature on his cameras and capturing wonderful moments that life presents to him.

David Tulloh

David grew up in Melbourne before settling in Sydney in the mid-‘80s. He has senior management experience in ICT and for the last 20 years has worked in training and executive coaching. He has been involved with Professional Year since 2008 and with QIBA for the last 5 years. David and his wife get great enjoyment from travelling.

Anyes Marsault

Anyes is a French native speaker who has lived in many different places all over the world but for the past 20 years has made Brisbane her home. Anyes has had several careers in research, IT and now education and is proud to have worked in teams who have developed award-winning software. She is passionate about using Agile approaches to create IT and business solutions and believes they deliver better outcomes for both the business and for workers. The Agile paradigm is also strongly associated with collaboration and innovation which are essential skills for IT workers in 2021. Having taught Agile Project Management at QUT for a number of years, Anyes now shares her Agile knowledge with our Professional Year students. Anyes holds Agile and Project Management Certifications. In her spare time, when she can travel, Anyes heads off to the skiing slopes in Japan, France and Canada. To keep her knees flexible, Anyes spends considerable time exercising. She also enjoys intellectual debates and bushwalking.

Darryl Fung

Darryl grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. As a PY Facilitator, he loves helping students build their career, meeting people from different backgrounds and learning about new cultures. He enjoys spending time with his family and raising funds to support cancer patients and research. Darryl also likes playing sports such as rugby, soccer, touch football and tennis.

Garry Macdonald

Garry was born and raised in country NSW. He moved to Sydney in 1974 and finally relocated to Queensland’s sunny Gold Coast in 2001. Garry spent more than 20 years in the ‘corporate world’ working with large multi-nationals and for the past 25 plus years, has consulted to numerous small, medium and large organisations. Garry has a Degree in Business, Post-Graduate qualifications in Education, Management & Financial Planning, and an MBA. Garry has been facilitating the Professional Year Program with QIBA for the past 11 years AND loves helping his students grow and achieve their career goals. In his spare time, Garry loves watching team sports, particularly Rugby League and Football, and spending time with family.
